We have great pleasure in sharing the news that Dr Brenda Shanahan was recognised in the Australia Day 2021 Honours List as an Officer (AO) in the General Division of the Order of Australia, for distinguished service to medical health research, to the business and finance sectors, to corporate governance, and to philanthropy. A pioneer in the financial industry, Brenda was the first female member of the Australian Stock Exchange. Brenda has been a Non-Executive Director of DMP Asset Management since 2000 and of SG Hiscock & Co since 2019 and during this time has shown great dedication to the direction of the businesses. Brenda is and has also been a director of many listed companies, including Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals, Challenger Group and Bell Financial Group. Her contribution to philanthropy has been both generous and impactful. Brenda is currently the Chair of Aitkenhead Centre for Medical Discovery and was the founder of the SVI Foundation and the Chair of St Vincent’s Health. She is also a director of Rock Art Australia (formerly Kimberly Foundation Australia), a not for profit organisation dedicated to researching and protecting Kimberley rock art by bringing science and Aboriginal cultural knowledge together. Brenda established the Brenda Shanahan Charitable Foundation, through which she supports various not for profit organisations.
